Medscape (2/7, Vlessides, Subscription Publication) reported researchers developed “a novel machine-learning algorithm that uses genetic data from patient blood samples [and] can significantly predict and explain the progression of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s.” In addition, “the technique also allowed for discovery of genes and molecular pathways in peripheral tissues and brain tissues that are highly predictive of disease evolution.” The researchers published their findings in the journal Brain.
