Healio (9/23, Gawel) reports, “The COVID-19 pandemic may have had a greater impact on the mental health of older women with a history of childhood abuse or intimate partner violence than women without such histories,” investigators concluded after polling “582 women (mean age, 70 years) about the prevalence of depression, anxiety, sleep problems and conflicts with members of their household and non-household family during the pandemic,” then examining “how these problems were magnified in older women who had a history of childhood trauma or who had experienced intimate partner violence…at least four years before the pandemic.” The findings were presented at the North American Menopause Society Annual Meeting.
