Medscape (4/28, Anderson, Subscription Publication) reports, “Traumatic brain injury (TBI) with, and without, loss of consciousness (LOC) is linked to increased neurodegenerative and vascular pathology associated with dementia,” researchers concluded in a postmortem study that “assessed brains of 1689 autopsied older individuals who were enrolled in one of three longitudinal community-based studies of aging: the Religious Orders Study, the Rush Memory and Aging Project, or the Minority Aging Research Study.” The findings were published online April 27 in JAMA Network Open.
