Healio (6/2, Rhoades) reports research presented at the annual NUTRITION meeting found the Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND) diet was “tied to a 9% to 25% lower risk for Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia forms.” Researchers observed a “modest” 9% decrease in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia (ADRD) risk “when they compared participants with the highest score for MIND diet adherence with those with lowest scores.” There saw “an even greater risk reduction among Black, Hispanic and white participants, who had a 13% lower risk for ADRD.” Additionally, participants “who had the greatest improvement in their adherence over 10 years had a 25% lower risk for ADRD when compared with those whose adherence declined.” (SOURCE: APA Headlines)
