MedPage Today (9/5, Dotinga) reported, “Use of antidepressants was associated with a reduced risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) onset and progression, a retrospective cohort study suggested.” Compared to “no antidepressant use, there was a significantly reduced risk of non-exudative AMD and exudative AMD with use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors, or tricyclic antidepressants, reported” the researchers. The findings were published in the American Journal of Ophthalmology (SOURCE: APA Headlines)
