- To date, we have engaged with leading Dealing With Dementia (DWD) facilitators across Georgia to secure buy-in for an initiative aimed at supporting caregivers of individuals with serious mental illness who are receiving services through local Community Service Boards. This project specifically addresses cases where the care recipient is also experiencing cognitive or memory challenges. Our current focus is on adapting the DWD workshop framework to meet the unique needs of these caregivers. We are reviewing the existing DWD pre- and post-surveys, as well as the six-month evaluation tool, to incorporate additional questions. These enhancements will not only assess retention of DWD content and application to their caregiving but also measure whether caregivers feel equipped to access mental health resources for their own well-being.
