CNN (10/18, Christensen) reports a large-scale study “provides evidence that people 50 and older who sleep five hours or less at night have” a 30% higher risk “of developing multiple chronic diseases” – including diabetes, cancer, stroke, and depression – “as they age compared with peers who get a longer night’s rest.” The risk rose to 32% in participants over 60 and 40% in those over 70. Results in the 8,000-participant study were published in PLOS Medicine. (SOURCE: APA Headlines)
