Healio (7/13, Gramigna) reports, “Probiotics alone or combined with prebiotics may alleviate depression,” investigators concluded in a seven-study “systematic review.” The pooled data revealed “significant improvement in anxiety symptoms and/or clinically relevant changes in biochemical measures of anxiety and/or depression with probiotic or pre-probiotic use compared with no treatment/placebo or when compared with baseline measurements.” The findings were published online June 9 in BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health.(SOURCE: APA Headlines)
