Healio (2/9, Gramigna) reports, “Short sleep duration appeared to increase the effects of frailty on depressive symptoms,” researchers concluded after analyzing “data of 5,026 community-dwelling adults aged 60 or older at baseline who participated in the 2011 and 2013 waves of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study,” then using “the physical frailty phenotype scale to measure frailty and the 10-item Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale to measure levels of depressive symptoms.” The findings of the “prospective cohort study” were published online Feb. 2 in Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.
