The New York Times (5/17, Bakalar) reports researchers found “short-term exposure to polluted air, even at levels generally considered “acceptable,” may impair mental ability in the elderly.” The researchers followed 954 older men in the greater Boston area, repeatedly testing them with the Mini-Mental State Examination, and then analyzed those results in conjunction with PM 2.5 air levels over the same time period. The findings were published in Nature Aging. (SOURCE: APA Headlines)
