The New York Times (10/4, Carey) reports a new study finds that some 28 patients who “received an electrical implant to counter their depression” years ago are “still feeling better.” A team of psychiatric researchers “has published the first long-term results, reporting Friday on patients who had stimulating electrodes implanted as long ago as eight years.” Their findings were published in the American Journal of Psychiatry.
